Day 3 Nature walk
Hi friends and family,
Today
half of our group started the day by learning how to milk the cows that provide
all of our dairy products for meals. Then the other joined for breakfast, which
was rice and beans (as usual), cheese, fresh water melon and cantaloupe, and
this bread thing (we don’t know the name). Then we spent our morning in the
classroom working on refining our driving question for our projects. We took a
quick mental/coffee break then continued our hard work on our project. Then we
had lunch, which consisted of rice and beans (shocker, right?), beef stew,
fresh salad, and steamed veggies. It’s been really cool to see all the
different groups and organizations gathering together for meal time, learning
about each other’s studies. We then headed off to the Monte Verde cloud forest
reserve for a hike. Our experience guides pointed out all sorts of birds,
mammals, insects, and plants that are native to Costa Rica. Some of our
favorites included Spider Monkeys, Sloths, and every color bird you could
imagine.
Some of our guides could makes just
about every bird call possible, we found our self-searching for the nearby bird
then realizing it was just our guide. Then we enjoyed some tasty treats while
sitting in the hummingbird gallery.
Then we headed back
to UGA for a little down time before dinner. For dinner, we had rice and beans,
a ground beef dish, fresh salad, steamed veggies, and the famous hot cocoa that
causes chaos every time it is brought out. It is so delicious that we all
sprint to the counter so we can get a sip before it’s all gone. We headed back
to the classroom after dinner to get some more work done on our projects and
round out a day’s work. We’re looking forward to more fun and adventures, we
love and miss you all!
Love,
Gabby and Maggie
